Into the Fire

This presentation is a meditation and attempts to place the infamous destruction of Dresden into context. Into the Fire mixes commentary, quotations, music and prayer. It examines the initial use of bombing as part of the German blitzkrieg and then how strategic bombing was developed by the RAF. It looks at the cost of bombing and the culmination in destruction of Dresden.

My Father told me ‘never start a fight but make sure you finish it’. Is it possible to fight a war with out seeking victory? How do you know if you have gained victory?

It is likely that less people died in Dresden than in cities such as Hamburg. Does it make you feel better that not so many people died? Where is the cut of point at which you feel discomfort about civilian bombing casualties? 10 or 100 or 1000 or 10,000 or 100,000.
